William's first plane ride
In one week from Wednesday we will be embarking on our first plane ride as a family. Is this something I am looking forward to? Not exactly. I can not picture for the life of me this trip going smoothly with a toddler in tow. We are going to Montreal to visit with Will's parents, and once we get there I have no doubt that we will ahve a good time, but I am not looking forward to the plane ride. I can not imagine for the life of me things going smoothly, in the air with a squirmy, energetic toddler who is going to be expected to sit on my lap for two hours at a time ( for two flights each way) without a fight. From what I understand if there is a seat available, we can strap in a car seat (then it will be just like riding in a car for him, hopefully). SO with any luck and a delcine in ticket sales the car seat will be our saving grace. In the meantime, if anyone has any hints for toddler travel, feel free to share them!
Another taste of winter
The past week has been glorious, mild temperatures, sunny days and long evenings, William and I spending long hours exploring the great outdoors. On Saturday we were out in nothing but a sweatshirt, and I even considered setting up the picnic table for a bit of excitement (before the onset of summer flies). My thoughts of starting my work on the lawn etc were darkened when, after walking to the convenience store, the lady there told us that we were getting 25 cm of snow starting anytime. But how could that be possible, it's still so warm outside. Well it was possible, it turned cold almost instantly later that evening and continued snowing well into Sunday night. Driving home from tutoring yesterday I couldn't see a thing from the whiteouts, the worst weather I had driven in all winter!!! And the fact that my windshield wiper was not working and all I could see was melting snow dripping down in front of me didn't help. It was so bad that the dance class I was teaching was cancelled (not what I excepted in the middle of April). Today it is sunny again, but it looks like I should have put up my Chirstmas tree this weekend instead of planted my seeds. When will April showers come our way?
Baby Bladder
Last week I was experiencing strange feelings in my lower abdomen. I didn't think it was possible for me to be pregnant as I had just had my monthly visitor two weeks prior, yet these feelings were just like those I experienced when I was pregnant with William. OF course my mother didn't help matters much by saying that she could feel me move at three weeks? ( How is that possible?)But there was definately something going on. So when I went in to see my doctor about my cholesterol (which is up again) I mentioned it to him. Since I had also had a urine test at the same time as my blood work and there were signs of an infection, it was determined that I was having bladder spasms. (Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?) A negative pregnancy test ruled out that as a possibility, so the mystery was solved. My mother now jokes that William is not going to have a baby brother or a baby sister, but a baby bladder.
Having those feelings, however, have brought back memories of a very fond time in my life. So we have been thinking a lot about having another baby. I was talking to my brother about this the other night, and he said something that I thought was very mature for age of 20 years. He said I should at least wait until after the summer so I still have lots of energy to do lots of fun things with William. I think I will take his advice, but then it will be time!
William's imagination
I am starting to see definite signs of my little guy having an active imagination. Yesterday he was standing up with his hands in the air saying, Neighhhh, neighhhhh, and then crawling on all fours. At first I wasn't sure exactly what he was doing... of course, he's trying to be a horse (but where did that come from?) Today, he was playing with some tools, then he takes one, walks over to my tool box (that I keep my tole paints in) straddles it and starts lifting the wrench ovre his head and grunting. I sat there puzzled for a few minutes (again) then I caught sight of Will's bench and weights over in the corner and I realize that he is pretending to lift weights like his daddy! He also like to walk around hunched over with his arms straight out like he is some sort of monster. I must say it is really delightful to watch.
Well that is it for this week.
And remember if anyone has any experience of travelling with a tollder on a plane, please share!
