One of my goats was injured on Friday. She tried to climb the fence and got her rear hoof caught in the fencing. It is very swollen, but I don't think she broke or dislocated anything. I'm rubbing horse linament on it a couple of times a day. I was JUST getting ready to get rid of both goats, too. Go figure.

Playing Catch-Up - Seems like that's all I do!

We had a busy weekend with guests (YAY!) made even more busy by my brother arriving on Sunday evening. He was traveling from his home in Lemoore to my mother's in Oregon. The reason for his trip was bittersweet. He was taking his son and his step-son to my mother's to live. His wife is leaving him (she likes to run around) and it is the most stable place for the boys. Good luck to my mom and step-dad because I couldn't do it. Jonathon just turned 7 and Josh is 2. One two year old in the house hold is plenty for me! And it seems that boys are entirely different from girls.

Speaking of my girl, we began school yesterday. It's going to take some adjusting to get in the habit of doing this everyday! Our curriculum is called Little Hands to Heaven and I think we'll like it. I've also been really impressed recently with Alyssa following instructions. I think as we get closer to The Big 3 she'll do even better. Tomorrow we are going to try Music Together at our local library and see if she likes it. She hated gymnastics, so it could go either way LOL

My brother and I took the kids to a little cove near Little River and they played in the water and sand. This was a big deal for Alyssa because she has always clung to me and refused to go near the water. She did so well and actually played in the water (she even sat down in it at one point!)

A quick update on Saffron (my goat.) After much doctoring up and my failed attempts at splinting her hoof/foot, she seems to be getting along fairly well. She had quite a bit of swelling and I thought perhaps her pastern was broken, but she is now walking on the hoof correctly and just has a bit of a limp. Earl and I are going to replace the deer fencing that surrounds their enclosure with some combination fence that should be sturdier and impossible to climb.

I did want to say that I am so sick to my heart about the needless deaths associated from the terrorist attack in Russia. My prayers go out to the children and families.
