March 1, 2000
Hello! My sweet thing, Alexandria, spent the night with the other half of the parenting unit this weekend. I missed her something fierce ... even more so than the first time she was gone. I think it had to do with the fact that I was at home this time with me, myself and I, and wasn't with relatives, trying to see and do everything. I spent my "day off" entertaining myself with homework, running errands and taking a LONG, much-needed nap. When I picked Alexandria up on Sunday afternoon, her face lit up with her beautiful smile and her legs started kicking as soon as she saw me. I couldn't wait to get my hands on her!She was wired when we got home. We spent the last hour before bath time chasing and wrackling each other and playing the imitation game (her new thing). I love to hear her laugh ... especially that big laugh when she throws her head back and lets it all out! She crashed at bedtime and I continued to hold her, stroking her hair after she fell asleep.
Last night (2/28), I picked up a normal Alexandria from daycare, who was talking my leg off and bouncing all over. Within a half an hour, she was pale, coughing, panting and just lying on me. She didn't want to eat and only wanted her water. She got into a hacking fit and puked all over the both of us *sigh*. I undressed us both and got into the shower to clean off, but noticed that she was shaking and closing her eyes. As soon as we were both quickly dried and dressed, she was listless and fluttering her eyes at me, still panting and now feverish. It was so unbelievably fast how quickly she went downhill! It worried me. So, I called the doctor and we were at the doctor's office in a matter of minutes. By the time the doctor came in to examine her, her temperature had risen to 104 degrees and she was limp ... just lying there. My daughter normally HATES the doctor. She fights, kicks, cries when she even sees the dr. It was such a shock to not see a reaction out of her. She got some medicine and cooling cloths (which she hated!) to bring down her temperature The doctor ruled out a viral infection (I HATE THAT ANSWER! I like specifics -- especially when it comes to my daughter's health.), and said to bring her back in a few days if the temperature had not subsided. Today, she's out of daycare and I'm going to have to drag her to my classes. I have 2 finals this week! AAACCK! I guess when it rains, it pours. I just hope my little one is feeling better soon.
As ever,
Chandra ~~+~~Alexandria
