Christa's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

February 16, 2000

Well, we both survived the weekend!! Alexandria seemed to do just fine with her dad. I guess it took her awhile to get down for the night and she got up a few times, but overall she did all right. I know that she had a good time because she was so happy when I saw her on Sunday and anxious to show me all her "stuff." I managed to stay up late on the night she was away from me and wasn't able to really sleep in on Sunday. DOH! I woke up Sunday morning feeling sick as a dog. It progressively got worse as the day wore on. My first mistake was thinking I could drive the 2 hours home.

To make a long story short, I ended up in the hospital halfway down the freeway and Alexandria screamed her head off in the ambulance. (No, we didn't have an accident.) She is fine, but I have some health problems right now that are "kicking my butt." When we reached the hospital, they had a hysterical toddler on their hands and in an attempt to soothe her, they laid her on my torso. Alex wrapped herself tight around me and immediately stopped crying. They let her stay like that for awhile. Then, the strangest thing happened. When the doctor came in, he lifted her off of me and set her in a chair pulled close to the gurney. And she was QUIET! She just sat there watching everything, patting my hip, saying, "Momma, seep?" She didn't move from that chair for almost 2 hours!!! Unreal! It was as if she knew what was going on. The doctors FINALLY called her dad to come get her and he made it down in warp speed. I've spent the past few days in la-la land, shuttling back and forth to the doctor's office for tests, making an appearance in the office, and going to class. I would give my right arm to have the chance to sleep all week long. Thankfully, my mom is coming up on Friday for a long weekend. Maybe I can get some rest then.

On a happier note, Alex got this annoying bear that dances to music for Valentine's Day. She loves that thing! She starts dancing and grabs my hands to join her wild shakin'. Ah, that little one makes me smile.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy this week!
