Christa's Diary Entries

February 14, 2003

The boys gave me the most precious gift today! Their own V-Day cards. Of course Noahs was scribbled with love. But it was from the heart, and I LOVED it! I will treasure them always.

ANOTHER INFECTION?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When will it end?! We have had a long week! Sunday Don took his dad to Arkansas, and took Austin on the car ride. So at home it was me and Noah. Don had taken both boys all morning, so I had time to study for my test. Well I noticed that morning that Don left Noah's sippee cups at home. UH OH! But Don said Noah did great. Hummm! That boy usually would be screaming for his milk. Well he brought Noah home around 1. Then left around 4 to go to Arkansas. So it was me and Noah. I noticed Noah wouldn't eat or drink for me. Great he probably has the flu! Yeah that was it! With in 1 1/2 hours he started vomitting milk up. Ok, so I monitored him, no temp. just vomit. Then 30 minutes later it turned green (I know that sounds gross) So I called the dr. office and told the answering service that I needed a nurse to call back. Well 20 minutes later a nurse calls. She ran through normal questions with me. Then she asked the strangest question! Is Noah's vomit look like coffee grounds, or like coffee? Hummm, not last time, then 1 minute later Noah set up and vomits, this time brown with red! Noah had been sleeping off and on that evening, only waking to vomit. I knew something had to be wrong. But when I seen red, I knew it was blood. The nurse told me, as if I didn't already know, that it was blood and to go to the ER. Ok! So I hang up the phone...WAIT! No car! CRAP! I call my friend/neighbor to see, if just by chance she was back from her trip. She was, she JUST got home. THANK YOU JESUS! She rushed me to the ER. Don came later after seeing the 1000's of notes I plastered all over. Hey, had to make sure Don knew what was going on. So we are at the ER. The dr. is running tests to see if it is IN fact blood. Then Don shows up. The dr. comes in and says it is blood! Then checks Noah's ears. ANOTHER EAR INFECTION! Same ear as last time, the right. I remember the dr. saying Noah's ear was bulging! So they were going to give him 2 shots of meds. for the ear infection, since he was vomitting so much oral doses wouldn't work. The reason for the blood was his severe vomitting/no food in his belly. Well I went out to find my friend so she could take Austin with her. As I walk back in the room, they have Noah pinned to a table and injecting meds. into my sleeping babies legs. I about flipped, till I realized what was going on. Then after the medics left, Don said he needed to lay down on the floor, 20 seconds later HE is vomitting in a bucket. OH NO!!!! Now Don is sick. The next day Don has to go to the ER, Noah has a dr. appointment, and Austin is home sick. Hey can it get any better? On the way to take Don to the ER, Noah vomits severely all over himself and the seat. So dropped Don off, ran home to clean Noah up, then I end up getting vomitted all over by Noah. We get to wash clothes now. Just in time to go see the dr. Rush to get Don, which they said he had the flu. Noah gets some oral meds. and another visit to the ENT. Which is this Tuesday. Noah's doctor said she hopes the ENT can schedule Noah in soon enough so he can see this ear infection. Dr. V wants the ENT to put a tube in Noah's right ear. I was kind of relieved that Dr. V said that. Cause I thought it was just me wanting something done for the longest time. What a relief! Something DOES need to be done! Noah is getting WAY too many infections. Well Noah was fine all day Monday, Dr. V put him on a strict diet of bananas, rice, cereal, applesauce, toast and pedylite. Tuesday morning at 6 am, Noah wakes us up with diareha and vomitting. OH MAN! Well he was taken off the meds. for a while and today was his first poopies free day. WOOHOO!!! He even drank some milk and ate normal food. He was soooo happy to have that milk! I can't wait to talk with this ENT Tuesday. If he even says he isn't going to consider tubes, I am going to yell at him so loud my friend that works there will be able to hear me! As a mother I have done everything I can to protect my childs ears, and nothing helps! I don't just take him out without a coat and hat on. He always has a stocking cap, and a hooded coat on, gloves, and winter clothing. I mean how much more can I bundle this kid. He can barely walk in the atire he gets strapped into the way it is. And on real cold and windy days we toss a blanket over him. What more can I do?!
CAN YOU SAY MAMA AND NOT SAY DADA?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes he can! Oh this past week has been pure heaven on the speaking end of things! All he says, for the most part, is mumum, mamamama, tooookkkkieeee! But mostly mama! WOOHOOO! Mama, That's ME! He still says dada every once in a while, but mama is the focused word right now, and I am E-N-J-O-Y-I-N-G it!

WHAT TO GET HIM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every year at tax time we get our kid/kids a special gift. We look at it like this "if it wasn't for the boys we wouldn't get this big chunk of money." So we got Austin a bike and are taking the boys to an awesome pizza place/indoor play area. But we still can't figure out what to get Noah as a special gift. A tricycle with the long handle on the back, a sand box, a toy box? Any ideas?
A BIG BED
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The boys just got brand new bunk beds. Noah will be sleeping on the bottom. I don't waste my money on toddler beds. For some people they work great. But my kids want nothing to do with them. So why waste my money. As soon as we get into the new townhome we will start wiening Noah to the bunk bed. How well will this work? I don't know. But we are going to try it and see.

Please give me ideas on what to get him. I am at a lose and so is Don.
