I spoke too soon. The Chomp strikes again. Can't win!!! Do you think they sell child-sized muzzles? :-)
Ok, who took my normally cheerful, easygoing little girl and replaced her
with a Clingon? For the past week, Alexandria has been very clingy, fussy
and waking up A LOT during the night. This makes for an equally cranky and
tired mom. I keep searching for signs that she's coming down with
something, drainage from her ears (she had ear tube surgery in June) but am
finding NOTHING! The night before last, she was up from 12:00-6:00 a.m.
moaning and whimpering in a restless fit. Yesterday, her caregiver told me
that she had a "rather hard day," wanting her binky (which she only has at
bedtimes) and to be held. She has also been the same way with her dad.
I've just been getting used to getting around with Alex attached to my leg or in my arms if I can take it (I'm no superwoman! Lugging around a 30 poundkid 24/7 just doesn't happen!). However, I spend all possible time holding, comforting and cuddling her in these moments. She spends a lot of time sitting my lap reading, or resting her head on my shoulder. It's a good thing we do the family bed thing. She holds my face or some nearby body part during the night for comfort. She's even tried to nurse once or twice, even though she weaned at 14 months. Sorry, sweetie, but Mom's Diner is closed for business! Why is she acting this way? I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe a stage toddlers go through? The puzzle continues.....
I got my grades -- and they're great! Whoo-hoo!!! Good dog...pant, pant!
Christmas should be interesting this year. Alexandria spends Christmas Eve with her dad and then goes back again to his place first thing in the morning. I then pick her up at noon to spend the rest of the day and the night at my Grandma's where my extended family (minus my parents and sister) will be. I'm thankful that I'm able to spend Christmas with my family! Alex and I will be flying down to my parents in California before New Year's for a much needed vacation...at least on my part! My parents are beside themselves in anticipation of Alexandria. I know they hate being so far away from us. If Alexandria's dad had decided to not be involved, we would have moved back home in a heartbeat, but since he wants to be a father,(and he is a good one) I stayed in Oregon so that he and Alex could have a relationship. I know that is the most important thing right now. It's hard ... but important.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas!!!!
