Chandra's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 18, 2000

I love the way toddlers think and talk. Sometimes, the most off-the-wall things come out of their mouths! For instance, Alli and I were driving to school one morning. I mentioned that her favorite babysitter was coming that night to babysit. Alli smiled and started laughing to herself. When I asked her what she was laughing about, she said, "I see Eileen! I see Eileen with Alli green eyes!" Another time, we were visiting some relatives and when they greeted her, instead of waving or saying "hi", Alli gave them her own greeting by lifting up her shirt and saying,"Look at Alli belly!" or "I wear pretty shoes."

I also didn't realize the extent of how well she was listening to me call her pet names like "silly goose" or "little turkey." The other day, again in the car, Alli tells me that there is a birdie in the car. I asked her where. Her reply was "Alli a silly goose!!" and points to herself. She cracked up at her own joke, as did I. My kid is a goofball and I love it!

The potty fairy is just dancing around at our house these days. My carpet has been peed on more times than I care to count, but the toilet is also enjoying its fair share as well. Alexandria is actually doing better during the day at daycare. I think it has to do with her friends also being in panties and it's a whole group potty thing. Her new thing when we get to daycare is to greet her teachers by pulling down her pants and saying, "I wear Elmo (or Blue, flowers etc.)!"

I'm taking a "mom's weekend off" and having Alexandria spend two nights, instead of the usual one at her dad's place. I'm going to spend my time on the coast relaxing and thinking about what to do this December. I had planned on moving to Portland, but a few other things got thrown into the mix of things, and I'm now confused. I have to think what would be best for Alli and me ... whatever that may be.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy, or at least fighting off the sick bug that seems to be plaguing everyone's health!
