Chandra's Diary Entries

conversations by adults or by fellow toddlers.

Somehow, somewhere, someone told Alexandria what a hickey was. I don't know who/what/how she learned it but now, it's all she does. She's a bare-skin seeking, hickey maniac! Have your arm exposed? She's trying to suck on it! A leg? She's attached! Wearing sandals? Hide your toes!!! It's hard not to give her a reaction because 1) I don't want hickeys all over my body. 2) It tickles. 3) When she comes to attack you, she says, "Hickey mommy!"

"No Alli! Mommy doesn't want one!"

"But, I do!!!!" as she laughs hysterically. Urgh!!

Another thing she has picked up is from another toddler at day care. Emma is almost a year older and has a new baby brother. She tells anyone and everyone about how her brother loves boobies. (Her mom is nursing him). Alexandria has picked up on this and has revised it to: "Daddy likes boobies!" I've been just brushing it off, knowing that she'll get over it soon. However, her dad was not amused. I've tried explaining it to him, but I don't think I was too effective. I talked to her teacher at day care about it and she laughed. She said that all the kids start chanting it at least once a day. I felt much better after hearing that.

After we spent a weekend at my mom's new house, Alexandria made the connection of me responding to my real name. She's tried to call me Chandra, instead of Mommy, many times. I ignore her until she says Mommy, Momma etc. It irritates me when I hear children calling their parents by their first names. I think it's rude and disrespectful.

My mom is all moved into her new place. And it's so nice to have her close by! :-) Alli loves the stairs and all the hiding places. Her new trick is run up to the second floor and hide in one of the walk-in closets -- door closed, lights off etc. The first time she did it, I heard a muffled, "Where Alli go??" I raced all around the house, freaking out because I couldn't find her. When I finally did, she laughed and jumped around while I scolded her. Sometimes, I think she's too smart for her own good! LOL.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy!
