H*A*P*P*Y 2 nd B*I*R*T*H*D*A*Y Alexandria!!!
My sweet child is growing up in a blink of an eye. I swear, time has doubled its speed since she was born. The first thing she said this morning after I wished her a happy birthday was "BIRTHDAY CAKE!" That's all she's talked about for the past 2 weeks. When I dropped her off this morning, two of the girls in her class (2 1/2 years old) sang their version of "happy birthday." It was just precious!
I left work early to take cupcakes, hats and those blowy things for her class. I had to time it AFTER the kids' naps...but it was just in time for the parents to pick up their sugar-crazed children at the end of the day! My grandparents and Alli's dad came over for pizza, more presents, and cake. It took me awhile to wind her down for bed tonight. She was bouncing off the walls!!
Alli and I survived a long weekend without each other but paid for it Sunday night and all day Monday. She was so excited to see me when I got off the plane...what a beautiful greeting! She velcroed herself to me for the rest of the time. But cried for me to hold her the whole hour and half drive home. The poor thing was a crying, whiny mess on Monday morning...throughout the day...and into the evening. It was as if I had an infant again and couldn't put her down. Hard to carry around a 36-pound child while trying to take a shower, cook dinner, go to the bathroom etc.! I'd be standing right next to her but she'd be screaming, "I want my mommy!" Translation: Hold me, I'm dying here!! I even had to go shopping with my monkey child. She refused to sit in the cart and just wrapped her arms and legs around me. I wish they made big-girl slings! I just loved and loved her last night, rocked her to sleep...making up for lost time. She didn't last long in her own bed though. Alli managed to slink her way into mine as soon as I turned off the light!
As for my solo vacation: Delirious from the freedom, I partied like a rock star the first night in CA BUT realized the next morning that I'm not a rock star! :-) I'm a mom! (As if I needed proof, I found my first gray hair while getting ready to go out!!! )I went out for good times with friends and danced and danced and danced. I can't believe I used to do that every weekend pre-Alexandria. It kicks my butt now! I had a wonderful time with friends and my family. However, it was a bit strange to see all the boxes packed up in the house and listening to my parents discussing who gets the gravy boat!?!
Alli and I did get a chance to see my Mom's gorgeous new place before I left. Alli loves it because she has these big apple trees in the backyard. It was her big thrill to pick apples and watch me freak out trying to get away the worm-eaten ones BEFORE they hit her mouth! I'm so excited to have MOM close by us!!
Hope everyone is happy and healthy, Chandra~+~Alexandria
