Chandra's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 8, 2000

Only 8 days until we're on vacation!! It's only a short vacation down to my parents' place, but oh, is it needed! I hope it's sunny while we're down so Alex and I can dry out. Gotta love this Oregon rain! While down in CA, Alex will have her dedication ceremony at my church. It's not a baptism. That is something she can decide for herself when she's older. The people at my church have been a large support group for me since the day I found out I was pregnant. Initially, I was concerned about their reaction about me becoming a single mom, but a group of women threw me a baby shower ... and heck, even my pastor was there! She (my pastor) has been a great sounding board. I'm so grateful for their support. It's rather special to have the dedication for Alexandria there with the people who have stood by since the beginning.

Alex seems to have made a recovery from the pneumonia. She's back in daycare and her usual spunky self. I was informed yesterday by her daycare that she won't be moved to the toddler room fulltime until May. She's been ready since January/February but they haven't had any room to move her up. To add to the wait, there are also two other kids who share her birthday who are also ready to move up. There're only two spots available in a few weeks. So, it came down to seniority ... who had been there the longest. So, Alex will be in the toddler room in the afternoons until May. At that time, she'll move over for full days. I'm hoping for a miracle so that she may get moved sooner. BUT, one stipulation is NO BINKIES. I hate to admit that Alex still uses her binkey at nap/bedtimes. So, starting today, they are going to try to get her down without it. This ought to be interesting.

Last night, after bath, Alex said, "I need a towel." Once I recovered from shock of her words, I asked if she wanted a towel and she replied yeah. Another sentence she's been using is "I love ____" (the blank depends on her mood). She's growing up so fast!

As ever,

Chandra~~+~~Alexandria
