Chandra's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 3, 2001

Well, I sure haven't been here in a long time! The changes in our household has been many.

Alli and I moved into a new house with her dad...and we're all adjusting to the many changes. I've been very lucky to be able to stay at home with her this past month. I never thought I'd get the chance to be at home with her for an extended period of time....so I'm enjoying this, enjoying her!

However, all good things must end...and I must get back to work. I've been dragging my feet about finding a new job, but financially...we can't afford that much longer. We've already found a daycare for Alexandria just down the street, so it's just a matter of finding that job......

The hardest thing I have found about this new life for us is learning to change my mental outlook. I took/take great pride in being a single mom, and I don't want to lose that sense of pride and strength that role gave me. I love having the three of us together like this, but it's been an adjustment to realize "hey, it's not just me doing this anymore..." This will take some time to adjust and learn, but it's alright....I'm looking forward to the future.
I was just talking to some friends of mine that have been or are single moms about this change. It's still strange to realize...it's not just my $$$, my responsibility for everything to get accomplish...these things are now shared. And as for the day in and day out life of parenting Alexandria...well, it's been weird to share also! But Alli loves having the both of us around...and she's just starting to realize dad isn't leaving, and neither am I. What a concept!
:-)

Hope everyone is happy and healthy,
Chandra
