I feel kind of bad about the flaming entry I wrote last week. Yet, at the same time, I don't. Alexandria's dad DID end up watching her at my house while I took my test, though. I could tell they had a good time by the complete destruction of my living room. At least she had fun.Alexandria is such as doll. She continues to make me laugh with her antics. When she's being silly, she'll put on her heart-shaped sunglasses upside down and stand right in my face with a goofy look on her face until I laugh. It never fails. She loves her music too. She throws her whole body into the rhythm , clapping her hands, shaking her booty and swinging her head around. Her particular favorite of late is anything disco or sung by Elmo. Speaking of Elmo, he's still her number one. My mother has sent up a ton of stuff with Elmo that she's found ... books, clothes, diapers, etc. She also sent up my old doll cradle and highchair, which turned out to be a big hit with Alexandria. It was funny to me because she knew exactly what to do with them. She's always putting the babies to "seep" and patting (more like pounding) them on the back, and pretending to feed them with an old bottle and utensils from her play kitchen.
I ran into a couple from my Lamaze class this weekend. The husband does all the talking. I've never heard his wife speak. Even when we were discussing pregnancy woes in class, he'd pipe up with this asinine comment or tell us about how his wife was feeling....she was the one carrying the baby ... you'd think he was from the way he talked. Anyway, I cringed when I saw them at the store and tried to sneak away. I got caught. The first thing we talked about was the difference between our kids. Their son is a month older than Alexandria. But he comes up to her armpit. To say Alex is a big girl is an understatement. She's going to be tall like her parents, but it's rather tiring to constantly hear people say, "She's so big!" She comes up to my hip already and is only 18 months old. The doctor at her 15-month checkup said that she is the size of an average 33-month-old. She's been off the charts since she was a few months old ... well, it makes sense -- her parents aren't exactly midgets, you know! So, our kids are standing together in the toy aisle looking like David and Goliath, and I'm half-listening to the husband drone on about how I should have married Alex's dad for "her sake" but if I couldn't do that, I should be taking her to church. Excuse me!? He started pressuring me about going to his church, even though I had made it very clear that I was happy with my church. I ended up making a hasty, somewhat rude exit at that point.
This weekend is the "big" weekend ... I'm praying that she sleeps well with her dad. I have big bag of stuff for her to keep at his house, including a picture of her and me. Her daycare teacher gave me that idea. They have pictures of the parents that the children look at throughout the day, and find soothing when they are upset.
Wow, I've rambled....hope the days are treating everyone well!
