Chandra's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 26, 2000

My daughter has fallen wildly in love with her father. I'm so happy about it, because he is absolutely thrilled and it's great to see this wonderful relationship grow between the two of them. I know a lot of it has to do with that fact that she is older, bigger and able to communicate to him much better ... or, he's able to understand now! She is constantly calling his name. Anytime we are near the front door (from him dropping her off or picking her up), when she wakes up, she's saying, "Dadda? Dadda?" and searching for him. When she sees him, her eyes light up and she gets all excited.

Well, we are officially starting to potty train. Alex has made a number of signs that she's ready and willing. She will strip off her clothes and diaper as soon as she's wet. She'll pat her bottom saying "Butt, butt!" (I'm embarrassed that she knows what a butt is) and gets a diaper before she poops or soon after. I have a little potty seat for her that she now goes to occasionally to read her book and sit. I'm not pressuring her in any way ... I wasn't prepared to do this for many, many months!

I'm getting myself all geared up for her first night away from me. I made plans for a night on the town with a friend. I'm looking forward to it and hoping that it takes my mind off of it. I'll admit that I AM looking forward to a night a rest...I just hope I don't wake up three times out of habit! DOH!

Hope everyone is having a lovely week!
