Hello and happy snot days to you! The snot fairy has hit our house again with full force. Unfortunately, a cold is not just a cold with Alexandria. She was diagnosed with asthma when she was an infant, and viruses just make her feel worse. I've made a number of changes in her environment (the best I could), and my mom bought her an air filter for night (that's when her cough is the worse) and a new mattress. That has made a world of difference! But she hacking away again. I had three or four women comment about "that horrible cough" yesterday while we were out running errands.

Leaves We have to use a nebulizer to administer her meds ... but it is an almost bloody battle of wills to get her to actually do it. When she was an infant, she'd just kick back on my lap and would even fall asleep through the noisy racket of the machine. Not these days ... nope ... not even close. Her doctor told me to hold her down while giving her the treatment (it takes about 5 minutes). Yeah right! What drugs is he taking!? Tell me he's joking! So, I've resorted to giving her the oral meds -- not as effective, but at least they're doing something. If anyone has any experience with this, I would love to hear your wisdom!

I'm trying to wrangle myself up to accepting that the first "night away from Mommy" is looming closer and closer. (February 12th to be exact) Karl, Alex's dad, is excited about finally having her overnight, but me, on the other hand, well ... I can say that I want to support their relationship and the chance to spend time together, and it's true. But on the other hand, it's going to be the longest 24 hours (or more!). Urgh. I just need to concentrate on the chance of getting my first full night's sleep in about two years when she's gone overnight with him. Wow. What a concept ... sleep. Aaaaah.....

Hope the snot fairy misses your house! *sniff*
