Candace W.'s Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 12, 2001

I cannot and will not post a regular entry, because of the terrible tragedy that happened yesterday. I am praying for and thinking about those who died, and those who are missing loved ones, or have members of their family taken from them. My heart aches for them all. I am fortunate that no one in my family was involved, and that Alexandria is not old enough to ask me why, because I cannot answer why some group of depraved bastards would do such a thing.

I am sure our country will rise to the occasion as it has done in the past, and we will find who did this, and offer retribution. I hope in the process no more of our citizens get killed.

I cannot imagine the terror of those on the doomed flights. What can you possibly think in those last hours (or less) of your life? What sort of regrets do you have? Even imagining it is rather painful, and I pray that I am allowed to live to an old age, and die a slow death, so that my family is at least prepared for the loss. I imagine the sudden, swift nature is what hurts the most.

I am sorry that the world into which Alexandria was brought has to be like this, but it’s the best we have to offer. God bless America, and those affected by this tragedy.
