I am going all out here, I am writing two weeks in a row! I bet everyone is just insane with excitement.
I now have a Mathematics minor! Yay! I got a C in Linear Algebra, as did pretty much the rest of the class. One B, and 4 A's and everyone else got C's (about 7), no D's or F's that I know of. So that's that. I am now one course away (Biochemistry) away from my Chemistry degree. I feel like dancing, if I didn't have so much other crap to worry about. I don't know how I did in my other class, but I think I got an A.
So, I decided with a friend of mine to celebrate the end of the four week session. And it could only happen to someone like me! Feel free to laugh your ass off at this one. I'd been bugging Melissa (my friend) for weeks about "You know, we have to at the end of the 4 week session get the 32 oz. Megarita at Ruby Tuesday and celebrate!" So, I've been bugging the crap out of her, every so often sending her email about, "Are you ready
for the Megarita? Don't wimp out on me, Melissa!" and "It's Miller Time!"
and "A week from now, (plus or minus a few hours) you will be PLASTERED! Megarita here we come!"
Anyway, we get to Ruby Tuesday, order an appetizer and the Megaritas. I finished my entire one. Keep in mind that I have never been drunk (let alone hung over) ever in my life. Melissa left a little bit. Anyway, we went to Pier 1 after that to look and a wedding gift registry. I figured that would sober us up! (We walked there.)
Anyway, I got as far as Steak and Shake (about 2 minutes walking distance away), before I had to run to the bathroom to throw up! I puked my guts out, and it was pretty funny. I did a "drive-by" puking, because I am one of those people who can puke and then find something to eat and I feel okay. Anyway, badass Candace can't hold her liquor. There's plenty of time to tackle the Megarita again in St. Louis when we all get together one last time...This time I will win! Oh, and Melissa did just fine. She's really quiet, never swears, shy, you'd think she would be have to be peeled off the floor, but I’m the one who retches! The irony is too great.
Now, on to Alexandria! A few weeks ago, she began putting the shapes into her little Tupperware shape sorter, all by herself. I am incredibly proud, I’ve worked with her a lot, and she finally did it all by herself. Some of the shapes give her problems, but one time or another, she has put them all in without any help or prompting.
She learned what boobs are, since she spends so much time attached to them. She tries to say it, but it just kind of sounds like “boo”. And she did the cutest thing! (She only does it now with some encouragement.) She was in the bathtub, and she pointed to her chest, and said, “Boo!” and then started making this lip-smacking noise. I almost rolled off of the side of the tub I was laughing so hard. It was just the cutest thing I have even seen. She had just the widest grin on her little face, and she is so beautiful when she smiles.
Alexandria is also quite the reader. She loves to be read to, and she can make it through some pretty long books. We’re not talking “War and Peace” or anything, but “Ten Apples Up on Top” (the long version, not the board book), “Are You My Mother”, “Bears on Wheels”, “It’s Not Easy Being Big”, “I’ll Teach My Dog a Hundred Words”, and a bunch of other Dr. Seuss ones are her favorites. She used to have us read “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” and “There’s a Wocket in My Pocket” but she got tired of those, I guess. She also loves the Sandra Boynton board books. I attribute this to the fact that we don’t watch television. I can’t say how happy I am that she loves to read. I love to read also, and to share this love with her is one of the best things I think I have done with her so far.
Well, this is getting to be long. I hope my seven readers are still with me (does anyone listen to Rick Dees in the morning?) and in two short weeks Alexandria will be 18 months old! Before I know it, I will be getting ready for Christmas and her 2nd birthday!
