Candace W.'s Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

April 22, 2001

I hope everyone had a happy Easter! Ours went well, but Alexandria has been difficult lately. I am not sure why, but she just seems to whine and whine incessantly. Also, it seems Mommy is no longer Numero Uno. I am way behind in that department! I am the person who doesn't do anything but mean stuff to her. It has been kind of depressing lately. Especially since I used to be the parent that she preferred far above Daddy. It kind of hurts, she is always walking up to Al and holding her arms out, just like she used to do with me. Rejection. I think I will get over it. =)
I am not sure what I expect, since I am never around (well, hardly ever) and when I am home, I spend much of my time sleeping. Daddy always tries to keep her entertained while I sleep (sometimes better than others) and we do the best we can. Well, this semester is almost over, and I think if we can make it though this one, we can do anything.
Alexandria is starting to babble more and more. It almost sounded like she was saying “What this?” earlier today when she was pointing at her puzzle board, because underneath the pieces there are little pictures, and she was pointing to them and asking me what they were. She has the sweetest little voice.
Yesterday we went to the park, for a Chemistry Club picnic. It seemed Alexandria had a fun time, playing with one of the professor’s dogs (and giving him kisses), but when she got home she had a fever, and was acting miserable. After a nap and some Tylenol, she felt better, so we both think it was all the excitement of being outside and no nap that made her mildly sick.
As for Al and I, we’re staying busy and getting excited about the impending move. We can both hardly wait, and we’re starting to clean things up a bit here so we can move out. I dread some of the actual aspects of moving, like how hard it is going to be on Alexandria, however I know she will *love* the backyard we’re going to have (we intend on purchasing a home with a real yard, and Al is going to put up a fence if it doesn’t have one) and the room we’re going to have. And I am going to have a real computer/work room, with a real desk. I know we’re looking at some major expenses here, and I am worried about that, but I want to stop living out of a box and just enjoy my first home.
Well, that wraps it up for now. I hope everyone has a great week!
