Candace W.'s Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

February 19, 2001

It’s been so far so good, this week. Alexandria has been doing better and better at daycare. She no longer cries when I leave her there. (At least, she hasn’t the last three times I’ve taken her in!) She also is finally getting more teeth! She’s had 6 teeth since August, and now she’s getting two more bottom ones, for a grand total of 8! It’s been so long, it’s like she’s getting her first teeth all over again. Maybe she also is getting more on the top, but darned if she’s going to let me in there to look!
Alexandria has also been so full of hugs and kisses for her daddy and me, that it’s almost too much. She also likes to kiss my ear (where do they pick up this stuff?) and just loves to wrap her little arms around my neck. It makes me melt every time.
I have been trying to get the little booger to use her potty, but thus far, it hasn’t been working. About a month back, she (for the first time) peed in the bathtub, and I caught her, and made a big deal out of it, telling her she was going potty and whatnot. So, after she’s been doing it for a while (and deliberately, I might add) I thought I might be able to teach her to at least save her piddle for the potty. So far this hasn’t worked. I am hoping one of these days she will not be able to resist, and then maybe she’ll figure out her potty chair is for peeing in, and not pushing around the house. Wouldn’t that be nice?
I am so tired of working on lab write-ups. I am so incredibly frustrated with school. I wish it would just go away. I had one of my professors help me on something, and it turns out he was wrong! I was struggling to measure out these minute quantities of NaCl (like 0.03 grams!) when I should have been measuring out 2 grams! So, because of that, my calculations are coming out all wrong, and everything is a mess. I can’t wait till I graduate, if I ever make it.
Alexandria has been so much better lately; she is just an absolute joy to be around. I miss her terribly when I am gone. She’s even eating more, and I think she’s gained all the weight back that she lost when she was sick. Her father has got her addicted to eating spoonfuls of peanut butter, and she runs around with a spoon looking for the Jiff jar. Of course, I am not happy, since I think there are so many other (read: better) things she can be eating. Oh, well…what are fathers for?
Till next time,
Candace and Alexandria
