I hate to write another whiney entry, like last week, so I will try to tone it down. I need to be working on some assignments (I am so far behind, I think I am ahead, ha, ha) so this will be a quickie entry.
Last week Al and I took Alexandria to the ER. I was so sired of seeing her sick and miserable that I needed to do something about it. Her head was burning up (about 104.3), but when they took her rectal temperature (first time, poor baby) it was only 97.7. It was so weird. They gave her x-rays (twice because they messed up the first time) and thought she had pneumonia. They put her on Zithromax, and we were told to take her to her pediatrician the following day. So, we did, and the doc said it wasn’t really pneumonia (and I’m more inclined to believe him) and to just try and keep her comfortable. By Friday I was sick, too, so I quit a lab I was re-doing and went home and just wanted to sleep. My head was just throbbing, and Al gives me two Tylenol PM to take. So, I take them and crawl into bed. He comes in just an hour later, trying to get Alexandria to sleep, but she’s whining (thus waking me up), and she’s begging to nurse. I wanted to kill Al for not leaving me alone. So, I drag my rear out of bed, and my head just felt like someone had been using it for bongos. I couldn’t keep my eyes open, and I just wanted to be left alone. The joys of motherhood, huh?
Anyway, I spent much of my weekend asleep. I didn’t do much (if any) of the homework that was due. I just put it off. I did, however, get the highest grade in my class on the Organic Exam we took Monday. I was pretty excited about that.
Valentine’s Day was a nonevent. We bought each other candy, I bought Alexandria a stuffed dog and some goodies of her own to eat, and I just tried to do my schoolwork. I hope everyone had a fun Valentine’s Day. Alexandria had fun at daycare; they had a little party. She got some cards, a bunch of candy and cookies, and (best of all) they said she played really well with the other kids and she was very happy. That was the best Valentine’s Day present I could get.
Today when I dropped her off, though (you knew there was a “but” right?) one of the other toddlers there ran up to her, and gave Alexandria a hug and a kiss, and Alexandria just freaked out. She started bawling and yelling; she was not happy. I felt so sad, and one of the teachers picked her up and distracted her. Alexandria is just not the cuddly type. Ha, ha.
Well, I hear my assignments calling me. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I almost forgot to mention: Alexandria is all better now. She's still got a snotty nose, but she's eating and drinking and playing like she did before she got sick!
