Bonnie's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |

I was inspired by Lara’s (MT) entry to write my own love list. A little late for Valentine’s Day, but I don’t think Ella will mind.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
1. I love your optimism. No matter how many times your hero, the kitty cat rejects you, you continue to approach her daily, eyes shining and voice full of hope “Hi ki ka! Hi ki ka!”
2. I love your confidence. How eagerly you scan the faces at the restaurants and grocery stores, looking for a face to smile at and knowing you have it in you to elicit a smile from that stranger.
3. I love how observant you are. I never realized how pervasive kitty cats, babies, and hats were in this world until you started pointing out every single one to me.
4. I love your clever feistiness. The shine that comes to your eyes when you have decided to do something funny or impishly is priceless.
5. I love your heartiness. How well you can shake off a bump or get over a scrape. Your love of tumbling and running and throwing yourself on the couch. The laughter that spills from you when we hold you upside down or swing you in circles.
6. I love your snugliness. Your willingness to lay yourself down on the ground in order to get a good snug on a blanket, a stuffed animal, even a fuzzy picture in a touch and feel book.
7. I love your thoughtfulness and determination. The look of concentration that comes over you when you discover a new challenge shows that you will not take this lightly and not give up without really thinking things through and working at it.
8. I love your love of books. When I check on you in your room, worried by the silence of your play that you are into mischief, and come across you surrounded by your books, flipping through one after another, I feel as though I have stumbled into a gold mine. I could spy on you for hours, feeling like the luckiest mom alive.
9. I love your beauty. Oh! Those eyes! The way your cheeks chub up when you smile. The perfection of your little round smooth body, slippery in the tub. What a perfect package!
10. I love watching your language develop. Listening to your sing song babble is better then the radio. When I first realize that you have mastered a new word to the point of recognition I feel as though I have witnessed a little piece of your brain being formed, and I am so proud and happy for you.
11. I love being your mommy. When you stab me over and over in the chest naming me, “Mommy, mommy” I want to shout it from the trees “That’s right, that’s me! I’m Ella's mommy. The one and only!" I love being the one you run to when you bump yourself, the one who can sooth you the quickest, the one who understands you best.
12. I love that you made this list so easy to write. Just about everything I thought about you was something to love. Happy Valentines Day, little princess!
