March 14, 2003
Spring has sprung!!! (Almost!) It's good enough for me though! Even if it's cold, as long as the sun is shining and the sky is blue, Makayla and I are happy! She hasn't been happy recently though! She had a virus where the only symptom was a fever! The highest it got was 104 and it was almost down to 100 at the lowest point. This went on for about 3 days and today is the first day she has been back to normal. I'm at work and she's back at the babysitters. I was able to take off one day with her, and my mom helped me out a great deal by staying with her 2 days. I don't know what I would do without my mother!!! I love you mom!!! :)
Makayla is picking up SO much... words, actions, body language, etc. The other day she dropped her doll and she said "shoot!" I mean, she wasn't just repeating it, she actually used the word in CONTEXT! I was amazed. I started laughing like crazy. I couldn't believe it! My mom heard her say the same thing at a different occasion, once again - in context.
I've been struggling lately with my mother-in-law. Basically, she drives me NUTS! I find it IMPOSSIBLE to talk to her, so I just don't. She smokes in the house when Makayla is there and that really bothers me. Everytime Makayla comes home from over there, she is congested and cranky. I'm sorry, but I can't help but think the smoke is NOT helping that! I'm not saying it's causing her to get sick, but I just wish she cared more about Makayla's health than her cigarette. I am terrible sorry if I just went off on a tangent or offended anyone but I'm extremely fed up with the entire situation. Russell is too. I actually have good news, speaking of Russell!!!
We are going to start dating again. After being seperated for 1 year and 2 months, we're going to try to make things work. Taking things EXTREMELY slow and just dating right now, things have gone good. Tonight, the three of us are going to have dinner, and after she goes to sleep we're going to watch a movie. I'm excited. I think we both grew up a lot during the past year and some months, and he realizes what he is missing out on. (I do too, but I had tried in the past - he didn't. That's why I said "he realizes") We're going to start going to counseling atleast once a week at our church and we're also taking a class at church called "10 great dates to excite your marriage." Corny, I know, but if it saves the marriage and Makayla can grow up with both Mommy and Daddy there all the time, I'm willing to do anything. Please keep our little family in your prayers and give me any advice if anyone has it - I'll take all the help I can get!!! :)
Well I hope everyone has a great weekend! Enjoy the sunshine and your toddlers!
Love, Becky and Makayla
