September 19, 2003

9-19-03 - Friday
I have 2 1/2 weeks to go, yeah!

We have been really busy lately. Last Saturday we went to a ball for the hospital that my father used to work at. It's their 50th anniversary celebration. Mom wanted everyone to go and we had two tables. Several of us went and had a good time. It was formal. Mom bought me a dress at Motherhood that had beads and sequins. The food was good and I love hob-nobbing. Of course, I knew many of the people anyway. And many I had seen at dad's funeral. We had a nice time.

Sunday, Ron had to work in the morning and then we went back up to Louisville to a bbq for my mom's birthday at my brother's house. I got to play with my new niece. She had her eyes open and it re-energized me for my baby. I can do it! I can wait it out. Gracie is so cute. I am very excited for my little pumpkin now.

On Tuesday I had my 37 week appt and that was uneventful. I discussed a few things with the doctor (cord blood collection, c-section date, whether my sister can also be in the OR...). We picked the 6th of October which is a Monday. The doc says he thinks I'll be in sooner. I asked him if he thought I'd go into labor, he said no, I'll get tired of being PG. I WILL hold out - every day counts at this point. He didn't even bother checking me. I was still high with no signs of dropping. He said I had lots of amniotic fluid and things looked fine. I was sent to anesthesia to talk to them. I have an appt to see them on the 2nd of October to get my instructions then do the bloodwork on the 3rd. They wanted me in there on the 3rd for everything - but I have plans! I am going to an art fair on Friday. But, the blood lab opens at 7 am so I can go in early.

Wednesday, I took the day off for my mom's birthday. Coincidently, it happens to be my MIL's birthday too. So, Mom and I and my SIL went to lunch and to get a massage. We all had a great time and enjoyed the massage. The lunch and massage were my gift to my mom. I think she enjoyed it. She said she did.

Thursday, my SIL call and said that her son was taking his fiance to the hospital. my (almost) niece went to the doc and found that her amniotic fluid was low and decided to induce her. Apparently she was ready because she started the pitocin at 4 and delivered at 8:30pm. I'm jealous at that labor - and for her first child no less. They had a boy, 7 lbs 3 ounces and 19 inches. I'm going to up and visit tomorrow early because my (almost) niece still lives with her mom and I don't know when I'll get to see the baby. The wedding date hasn't been picked yet because the father is out of town in Iraq with no definite dates of coming home. What a shock for him. He got the news of them having a baby over there and then isn't here to see them have the baby. Anyway, I'm excited for them. Owen will have a cousin that is only a few weeks older than he is and a girl cousin 6 weeks older.

My next appt is Monday. I'll write on my board if anything comes up.
