9-9-03, 36 weeks today.
Potty Training - Ok, so most know we are working on potty training. G has the whole poop thing figured out. But, having had diarrhea the last week and still this week has made it a bit difficult. I think since I started my new diet and I'm drinking more artificial sugar, that G probably is too. He always wants what I'm drinking. I think the fake sugar products are making him poop. So, I stopped them for him and decided pure sugar. But, let me tell you what happened. G has been telling me his belly hurt so I put him on the potty and he has been great about pooping in the potty. In one way, the diarrhea has helped because it gives him a cramp so he knows when he has to go. He has gone every day on the potty for a week or more now. We are very proud. But, Saturday, we went to visit my new niece finally. My brother, his family, my mom, G and I decided to go to lunch. We went to one of those really good hamburger places that you dress your own burger at the topping bar. G had a great lunch. Mom, G, and I then headed over the mall, 5 minutes away maybe and G started whining saying "my belly hurts." He had a pull up on so I told him it was OK to poop in his pants, that we're almost there, we'll change him at the mall. He says OK, and whines a bit more. We got to the mall. I walk over to his side of the car and open the door. There was poop on his hand and both his goochies that he brought with him. I though, Oh my Gosh - what has happened? I unbuckled him and took him out only to find diarrhea all over the seat, him and everything in between. It went up the back of his pull-up and there was a huge puddle in the carseat. We stripped him down in the parking lot. Mom started cleaning the carseat while I used a half pack of wipes on G. And of course, he kept spreading it by touching himself with his arm or hand or whatever. We didn't have a plastic bag so we wrapped everything in a beach towel I had in the back. It was the most disgusting thing. I got his spare clothes and dressed him. When we got back to the sun beaten car later, it smelled like a damn horse barn. It smelled so bad. When we got home, I gave G a bath and we washed the carseat cover, the pad underneath and powersprayed the carseat. We used tons of lysol spray on the carseat. It cleaned up really well - it's a Britax. Ron then cleaned my entire interior which was nice. But, it was quite an adventure. And totally disgusting. I don't know what was more disgusting, this or last week when I had it coming out of both ends and didn't quite cover both ends the first time it happened.
I called and told my brother what happened and he said his friend (no kids yet) would've thrown out the carseat and probably ordered a new seat from the car manufacturer. I guess when you have kids, the germaphobic level lessens. How many of you have eaten after your kids and not cared or drank after them. Or as gross as it is, let them use your toothbrush. I would NEVER have done that!
Nesting - As if I'm not busy enough, I've almost completed the scrap book of my iParenting diaries.
I had been avoiding the scrapbooking store because I knew what would happen. But, then it happened, I was pulled in there by a mystical force and a $5 gift certificate. I bought a really cute Pooh scrapbook and it came with 10 sheets (12 x 12) with plastic covers. I only bought paper that was on sale. The paper was supercute at .25 cents a sheet. For my precon diary, I think I had 15 sheets, the PG diary I needed 37 sheets (used a different paper). The babies diary, about 34 sheets (different paper) and then I did a about another 30 some sheets for Toddlers diary. Then I started a whole new section at 2003 with different paper. I decided with Owen coming I needed to break it up somehow. So, from here on out each year will get a new set of papers. I bought 200 sheets of vellum off of ebay and formated in Word the text. I printed them out, cut them on my fancy paper cutter and spray mounted them onto the papers. The papers I bought have a 2 inch or so border around the edge with all different drawings on them. So, the inside is like a checkerboard and is blank which was perfect for those trimmed sheets. They look good. I left the First page blank from each section and I may put some photos on that page. I'm not motivated enough to put other pictures in there. I have a different photo album for that - of which I'm sooo far behind.
So, at this point, with the album and papers, I've spent a little over $100. I am still waiting for more of those plastic sheets to arrive for the book. Luckily, this brand of scrapbook I bought, the transparent sheets are cheaper than all the other brands. I need about another 50 sheets of that - $20 worth. I've also bought some stuff to make the baby announcements when Owen arrives. I don't know what I'll do yet.
The other thing I've been working on is a cross-stitch birth sampler. That is coming along nicely too. I may actually get it done in a timely manner. My sister still has the one I made for G. She was going to frame it for me - 2 years ago.
When I'm done with that, I need to get G's comforter finished. I got the batman fabric, now I just need to sew it together and make a duvet.
I guess I'm in that nesting stage. But, I'm also looking forward to the 8 weeks of maternity leave from having a c-section, heaven!!!
We are still planning on the 6th. I have had lots of tightenings/contractions lately. Today, I went to the Nature Store and got some Raspberry Leaf Tea, Blue Cohosh drops and Fennugreek Tea for after the baby is born. I've also been rubbing massage oil with Myrrh (not supposed to be used with Pregnancy) on my belly.
Today, both of my stepdaughters have a birthday. One is 22 and the other is 21. We celebrated Sunday night for dinner at a new restaurant called the Yang Kee Noodle. It was really good. It was at the mall. Ron made hope chests for the girls and we dropped them off at their house afterwards. Ron is out of town but will be back tonight, late. He had to go to West Point with his boss to sell, sell, sell our work.
My inlaws have said they are coming in around the 9th of October. They are going to my stepson's graduation. I don't know if they'll actually make it. They never make plans until the last minute. It doesn't matter to me. It would be nice to have them around and hang out with G. Plus, they'll get to see the baby. They are more than welcome.
Anne - less than 4 weeks to go!!!
