34 weeks along...
Last Friday, the 22nd, I went to do my 3 hour glucose test. Now, this is 5 weeks after my 1 hour test. They just 'forgot' to call me and tell me that I failed that one. So, I took some cross stitch with me to work on. It's a birth sampler for Owen. I got a lot done and had 5 needle pricks (1 mistake) and 4 times had to pee in a cup. Well, we had a huge electrical storm hit on Friday afternoon. I left early but didn't make it home fast enough. I think I escaped death by electrocution a few times. It was amazing.
Anyway, after getting G, I made him home unscathed to find the electricity out. I couldn't open the garage door and I am terrified as it is to be outside in an electrical storm. We made it inside soaking wet. Then Ron comes home and we have 15 minutes to go pick up his daughter's car at the shop before it closed at 5. I said "no way, no how!" We went anyway. The electricity came on about 8 or so. I ran to the answering machine to check the glucose results. I'm assuming I passed but I just want to know so it will go away. I had called at 1 earlier that day from work and they said they'd call me back - didn't.
So, there's a message saying call before 4:30 if there's a problem but I have to take the 3 hour test on monday at 7:30 and described the fasting etc. I'm thinking I AM NOT TAKING THE 3 HOUR TEST AGAIN! So, I called all 3 numbers she left me and one of them had a cell phone number. I called the nurse on her cell phone and she didn't know I had taken the test! Hello, I called earlier in the day and the women I talked to said she'd pass it along to the doc. Well, they hadn't been told and she told me she'd go into work on Saturday, get the results and have a doctor call me - no call! So, I waited all day sunday and still no call. I called Monday morning at 8:45 and once again, got the run around. Apparently, the nurses can't give the results. TheyShe laid the phone down on the counter and I could hear all their stupid conversations. (I need you to come over and do my hair...those pants...) Finally, another nurse comes on and says "the baseline is 83, the one hour was 166 and the 3-hour was 164". And I said "then I failed!" She says "Uh, I'm going to have you talk to the doctor." She lays the phone down again. 2 minutes later she picks up and says "The doctor is talking to someone, I'll have him call you." I waited until 9:30am then decided I had to go to work. So, I've called again about 15 minutes ago and talked to yet another woman who sent an email to the doctor, my usual doctor, call me this afternoon. He never called.
Tuesday morning I called and talked to another different person (5 different people total) and it's the male nurse. He is awesome. He is such a nice guy. He flagged down the doctor and put him on the phone directly. I didn't fail the test, only 1 number was out of wack but he still wanted me to be on a diet. So, I had to book an appointment with the Nutritionist. I did ask him about continuing on the path for a VBAC and he said as long as the baby drops and everything looks good we will continue in that direction. But, I have a feeling he's going to change his mind right before. I just have that feeling. I think the whole nutritionist thing is his way of saying "we tried" but the baby is still too big. I think he's giving me false hope.
To continue, I called to make an appointment with the nutritionist only to be told the next available appt is in two weeks. I laughed and said, "I might already have the baby by then." They transferred me directly to someone who fit me in the next day at 3. Talk about procrastination. I could've had diabetes for real and never had any treatment. I met with the girl yesterday assuming I knew what she'd say. Actually, it was very informative and I'm glad I went. I am following the Gestational Diabetes diet anyway. She wasn't really sure why I was there if I passed my GD test but when I told her that the doctor thinks I can make a smaller baby. I really don't think that's possible. But, we are going to try. The thing is, I liked the fact that G was a big boy. He was a great eater and sleeper.
I have a new niece. My sister in law went into real labor on Tuesday morning. She has had contractions for over a week now and two false alarms. But, they decided it was time. She went in at 5 cm at 7am and delivered at 9:15 am. She was only a week early and she only gained 8 lbs (and she's thin to begin with) and the baby still weighed 7 lbs 1 ounce. Amazing. She has thick black hair. I won't get to see her until Saturday.
Guess who pooped on the potty? G did!!! The last two nights, I noticed G has been gassy, like stinky poopy gassy. I thought he was going to poop on the potty the night before but, he just couldn't do it. Last night, I knew he had to go. I put some undies on him and told him that if he had to go, pull down his undies and sit on the potty. He's never been the type to hide in the corner to do his business. He was standing right in front of me and his eyes started getting red and I knew he was pushing it out. Ron and I jumped up and pulled down his undies. Some was in the undies but we put him on the potty. About 3 minutes later, he was pushing again. Then he knew he was done and looks at me and says "What's in there?" I said "Let's look." There was a ton of poop in the potty. I got real excited and yelled for daddy to look. I told him he was going to get a big present. We wiped his butt. Daddy cleaned the potty and I came out of the bedroom with a "Power Ranger." Oh that was the best thing ever! G sat back on the clean potty with his Power Ranger and said "I wanna do it again." He asked for a diaper about 30 minutes later. But, we were so proud of him for doing it. He was proud of himself. I hope he continues.
Those are the big events for us this week. Oh I did get my new car seat for Owen that goes with the Britax Chassis. I am very excited and it is very nice. We put a baby doll in car seat and put the car seat in the stroller. G likes wheeling him around. I put the old car seat on Ebay. I hope it sells.
