Baby News...
Well, I am 29 weeks along and doing fine. I had an appt last week and Ron went with me. I wanted him to go because I felt that I needed him there to discuss the VBAC option with our doctor. The doctor had a totally different attitude than what I got at my appt a month ago. He said fine after we discussed lots of stuff about my previous birth. He told me to come in as soon as I'm in labor and hope for the best. He also told me to watch what I eat just in case the reason I couldn't deliver G was because of his head size. He'd like to see a baby smaller than 9 lbs. GOOD LUCK! Although, I have only gained 12 lbs compared with 30 at this point with G. So far so good. I am just as big though, because I hadn't lost all the weight with G. Well, I lost it then I gained it because I knew I was going to get PG again so I lost motivation. Anyway, I am very excited to try another vaginal birth. Last Friday I had my 1 hour glucose test. I haven't heard anything so I assume, No News is Good News. And the ultrasound lady was gone last week so I go in this afternoon for a bonus u/s. This one is supposed to be to determine the sex of the baby. But, we already know so I am just going for a bonus look at my son. Speaking of son, we have finally decided on a name for our 2nd boy...
Owen Thomas Offutt
We'll call him Otto - just kidding. Interestingly, everone loves the name - yeah! Yesterday, my mom gave me some baby stuff and G was saying "for me?" And we'd tell him it was for baby Owen. So, I also bought a new car seat yesterday for G - a booster seat and when I got home, I put it in the car to test it out and he refused to sit in it saying, "it's for baby Owen." So, he is starting to understand, I think.
G's Batman Room:
We have also completed G's room and it looks great. The only thing I am waiting for is the batman fabric. I bought it on Ebay and it was fairly reasonable even though it's from England. It was like $4 a yard plus shipping. So, I got tons of it. I've seen on Ebay, Batman fabric is going for $5 a fat square (for quilting) from USA vendors. Then this came up. I jumped on it and even asked her for extra and she had extra that coordinated with what she had. So, I'll have enough to make a duvet, bed skirt and probably enough for curtains. It'll take a month to get it BECAUSE I had a car seat sent to her and she's putting the carseat and fabric together. She was so sweet to do that for me. Now, I will have a Britax infant seat to go with my super expensive chassis. I decided on a brand new car seat as opposed to a used one in UK. That way, I know it's new and can get the best. So, that's also exciting for me - the BRITAX car seat I've been wanting is coming.
Temporary layoff - huh?
Well, last friday, my husband comes up to me (we work together) and his boss told him that he has to lay me off while they wait for money to come in for a contract we got. It just took longer than expected. He said it could be up to a week. Well, today is Wednesday and I'm back at work. Although it's for a different billing number they needed some graphics done. I hope that other money comes in tomorrow - who knows, they may ask me to stay home tomorrow. So, I had two unexpected days off - but I had to use my own vacation time which sucked. It was too short of notice to make any real plans to go anywhere - do anything. Monday I baked a cake (even hand made the icing) and took a nap and made dinner, leftovers :) And yesterday, I took the afternoon to visit my mom and see me dad in the nursing home. He has wasted away to 125 pounds. He has no muscle left and is a skeleton with skin. It's just so pitiful. His voice is so low you can't understand him. G and I were sitting on the left of his bed and mom was on his right. Dad was trying to say something and mom kept saying "What, I can't hear you." So, G chimed in..he leaned forward in my dad's face and kept saying "what" everytime he tried to talk. Dad turned and went "shhh." Then we all laughed. I hadn't seen dad move that quick in a long time. And he even laughed a bit. Dad loved the name we picked since it is a family name.
The end of the month is a big one. My stepson leaves for the military (9 week course) on the 27th. He has been working and living at a local boy scout camp as a counselor all summer. Ron has packed up all his boxes to make room for the Owen's room. It's nice to see all his crap gone or at least out of the way. We don't see him much since he's at camp. We don't know if he will go active duty, get called to active duty or will end up coming back here after his course. Also, at the end of the month, we are planning my parent's 50th anniversary party. It's a few months late, but we weren't sure dad was going to be around. All of my sibling, most spouses and some of the grandkids are coming in. We are having BBQs, a day at the amusement park, a baby shower for my nephew's fiance, brunches, and other fun family events. It'll be nice to see some of my nieces and nephews that are grown up and working or going to school. Their lives are so busy now. Too busy to visit the old folks.
That's it for now.
Anne, G and Owen.
