I am now 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and feeling great (for the most part). I went to Utah last weekend for a few days and had a great time. We (my sister and I) arrived on Saturday night and on Sunday we went snowshoeing. I am so out of shape. We probably hiked about 2-3 miles. It was hard work. It was so beautiful though. They hadn't had much snow but it snowed 4-6 inches in town (the night we arrived) so the mountains had much more. The we checked out the outlet mall and a few other places. On Monday we went skiing and my legs burned so much, probably from lack of exercise, that I quit after 2 1/2 hours. Sis and I went to a timeshare presentation. They gave us $100 cash each and a $100 gift certificate to the 5 star restaurant for dinner. We had a good time and a great meal. It snowed again that night. When we woke up the next morning to head to the airport, it had snowed another 4-6 inches. It was a heavy snow that stuck on everything and weighed everything down.
I got home on Tuesday around 3 and Dh met me at the airport and brought G. We were all glad to see each other. G was pretty attached to me as you can imagine. I sat with him in the back and we talked and played on the way home.
I had my first appointment at the OB department. They weighed me (no comment) and I chatted with the "Super Nurse," Lynn. I was rereading my PG Today diary and everything I had remembered about Lynn was true. She is so nice and wonderful. She sat and talked with me and asked me questions and answered all mine. She scheduled me for my orientation for March 6th. I asked if I had to go to it again. She said the program had changed. One really great change is that they do 3 ultrasounds now instead of 1. They'll do one around 12 weeks to date the pg, then around 18 to check for any problems, then around 28 to get the sex of the baby, if I want. I do want to know again! I loved knowing. Another interesting thing I learned is that they aren't doing VBACs at the hospital right now. They had an incident, a ruptered uterus, and although no one died, the doctor is scared to do anymore. Apparently this is the first time it has happened at this hospital. Lynn told me that maybe by October they'll change policy again. My due date is October 7th. I then went to give my 7 vials of blood. I don't know why they take so much blood. I picked up my vitamins and headed to work.
I felt good about the session and am more assured and excited about this whole thing.
G is doing great too. He is talking more and more every day. He tries to imitate almost everything now. He wants to learn so much. Ever since our Christmas vacation in Florida he has been quite attached to me. Although, last week, while I was gone, he got pretty attached to daddy. He has been waking up at night and now he calls for daddy. We bought him this blow-up mattress from Target. It's a Bob the Builder sleeping bag with the mattress built in. Well, it comes with a hand pump. Dh said he blew the mattress up part way and put it in his crib. Then he put the pump at the bottom of the bag. Last night after we put G to bed, he was yelling, "DADDY." Dh went up there and G had the pump in his hand. He handed it to Ron and went to bed. I thought it was cute that he thought it didn't belong there so I better give it to daddy. He woke up last night around midnight. He had a slight fever earlier and I gave him Tylenol. I thought it was supposed to knock him out!?! I wasn't feeling too well in the middle of the night and I couldn't handle it. Dh got him and took him back when it was time. My stomach hurt. It was kind of crampy. But, I remember that feeling with G too.
We woke this morning to 2-3 inches of snow. It's the same wet, heavy snow we saw in Utah. It looks beautiful. It is still flurrying a bit.
My birthday is in a week. I'll be 34. I feel old. I was born on Valentines Day. Ron asked what I wanted and I said a day at the spa. I'd love a massage.
Time to go.
Anne
