January 7, 2004
New Years Eve was fun. We made some yummy pizza while the kids played. We took some board games over but ended up watching Austin Powers. We were in bed by midnight. We are so exhausted still.
We got up early on New Years and got ready to go to my brother's inauguration as Mayor. It was cool but in the 50s. It lasted for about an hour and the wind was biting at us. Then they had a little open house to see the Mayor’s office with cookies and punch. Everyone was in town so it was fun but chaotic. Afterward, mom and I went shopping for some shoes for my dress. We found a perfectly matching pair at a local place and they were only $5. But, they hurt my feet so bad; my back still hurts. And as soon as we got to the ball, I took them off. We ate dinner at mom’s house on the 1st. It was a good old fashioned dinner with pork roast, mashed potatoes and green beans. Yumm. A lot of the family was there. Ron and I had to work on Friday the 2nd, but left a little early to get ready for the ball. I also took Owen to the doctor and still they wouldn’t give me much of anything for his cold. They did give me something called Cardec drops and some amoxacillin (to prevent any ear infection). We’ll see if that does anything. He also weighed in at 14 lbs 4 ounces. My stepson went with his girlfriend to the ball too. Dh and his son both wore their uniforms to the ball. Ron looked so handsome. I love it when he wears his uniform. We went to my sister M's house for a pre-ball party and then went to the ball together. Mom bought Disney hats and we all walked in with them. It was crazy. I think our home town figured the whole family would take over the town. My friend, S (from Florida), came too. It was nice to see everyone and we were all so proud of my brother. He’s got a long, hard road ahead of him.
Saturday, Dh had gotten up at 5am that morning to take his son to Harrodsburg. He had to report for his deployment at 8am. And Harrodsburg is at least 2 hours away. Dh waited for me in Louisville and I met up with him at 11 at the Flea Market. We met some of the family at the Flea Market then headed back to mom’s for dinner again. We were all tired and tried to catch naps. Mom ordered take out Chinese. We headed home shortly after.
Monday we were back at work. Tuesday I picked G up from school and he had a fever. Today (the 7th) he is here at work with Ron and I and Owen is at daycare. I am supposed to start Weight Watchers again tonight. I have had a bit of the holiday blues and I’m sure the weight doesn’t help. I DID cut my hair though. I cut it off and put in red, real red highlights. I think they look good and everyone else thought so too. I really like the style.
Next week, Dh goes to Washington state to try to drum up more business for us. He gets back on Friday and on the next Tuesday, I am going to Salt Lake City with some girls for a few days. G’s birthday is the 18th but I think I’ll have his party on the 1st of February or the 31st of January.
