2. Next, cut the paper towel tube. You will need two pieces: one that is two-thirds in length and the other the remaining one-third of the tube. After you have cut them, staple them together, one on top of the other.

3. On another piece of white construction paper, draw eyes, a beak and two feet. Cut them out and color them.

4. Attach the feathers to the back and the tubes and make sure to attach the eyes, beak and feet also.

You can make several of these and also use them as table markers for your Thanksgiving table. They also make great party favors for the family.

Thankful Tree

You'll need:

  • 2 yards of brown felt
  • Several different pieces of green, yellow and orange felt
  • White construction paper
  • Markers
  • Stickers
  • Glue
  • Velcro strips

Here's what you do:
1. Use a marker to trace out a 5-foot-tall tree trunk out of the brown felt. You may need to piece together some of the branches. Make it as large or small as you want.

2. Use the other colors of felt and cut out different sizes and shapes of leaves. You could even take a nature walk and collect leaves outside to know what shapes and sizes to use. These leaves could also be used as stencils to trace.

3. Cut the white construction paper into strips. You can do several different things with tese strips, such as write the names of your family members on them or write things you are thankful for. Glue the white strips on the different leaves you cut out.
