Helping Your Older Child Adjust to a New Sibling
By Neilia Sherman
What Else Can You Do?
- Remember how you felt when you had to share your parents with a sibling.
- Review baby pictures with the older child to point out the fact that he or she was loved and cared for the same way as the new baby.
- Monitor gift giving and either ask that people bring something for the older child or keep a stash of your own to avoid jealousy. Or give big brother or sister a special gift when the baby is born.
