Fall's Bounty
Turn Nature into Fun!
By Kymberly Pratt
Personal Trees
You'll need:
Old paint clothes
Construction paper
Tempera paint in fall colors (brown, yellow, orange, green, red)
Paintbrush
Paper towels
Here's what you do:
Take your child's shoe off and paint the bottom of his foot brown. Stamp his foot on the paper to make a funny-shaped tree truck. You could do both feet for two trees at the same time. Wash his foot off and dry it with paper towels. To make the leaves, help dip the pads of his fingers in different colors of paint and help him make a fingerprint impression along the top of the tree (the toe area). Allow it to dry.
This is a great way to chronicle your child's foot size as it grows, so be sure to write the date on the back. You could also attach a small magnet and stick the artwork on the refrigerator.
