Robot Crafts and Activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers

These fun robot-themed activities will keep little ones entertained, active and using their creativity.
- BotGames: Your child's favorite games take on a futuristic flavor when played by little "robots." Try robot tag. Or robot races, where kids carry a potato on a spoon to reach the finish line first. Drop the potato and you have to stop to pick it up before continuing – all while moving like a robot. That old standard, Musical Chairs, becomes robot-perfect when little "bots" move to techno tunes. Your child can choose her favorite games for a Robot Olympics or a robot-themed birthday party.
- The Robot Dance: English soccer player Peter Crouch made the Robot Dance a sensation when he scored a crucial goal in the 2006 World Cup. Now, kids everywhere are learning the Robot Dance and making up their own moves. Check out You Tube and search "the robot dance" with your child to see how it's done. Then, put on some music with a distinct beat – electro funk works well – and have a go. The Robot Dance is characterized by "the lock." Each movement finishes with the body rigid, to give the idea of gears starting and stopping.
- Robot Theater: Your little one acts out her favorite stories while pretending to be a robot. Goldilocks and the Three Bears becomes "Goldilocks and the Three Robots." Arthur, the aardvark from the Marc Brown series, becomes Arthur the robot. And there's always "Little Red Robot and the Big Bad Wolf."
