Baby Bottle Crafts
Recycle Leftover Bottles into Fun Crafts
By Renee Roberson
This is another project that works best with softer plastic bottles. Drill holes on each side of the bottle and slide colored pipe cleaners through to form arms. Stuff the inside of the bottle with aluminum foil. Place the nipple and cap on top of bottle and decorate it with small googly eyes and draw on a mouth. You can glue small, elongated pieces of pasta (such as ziti) on the bottom of the bottle for shoes.
Wildflower Bot Need a place to display all those pretty flowers you've picked on your nature walks? Decorate the outside of your bottle with colorful tempura paint, let dry and you have a vase that's the perfect size for your child to help with the flower arranging.
Baby Bottle Mini Garden: This project works best with short, wide-neck 4-ounce bottles. Cover the bottom of the bottle with green modeling clay. Place an assortment of small, silk flowers into the clay. Glue the bottle nipple and cap onto the top of the bottle.
Bottled Tornado: You'll need two bottles for this one. Fill one bottle with food coloring of your choice and water. Place an oversized metal washer in between the two bottle necks and duct tape securely. Your child will get a kick out of watching the swirling tornado slowly travel from one bottle to another.
"Check out crafts sites like www.allfreecrafts.com for other ideas too," Zissu says. "Many of them have information on doing things with soda and water bottles – these can translate to baby bottle crafts too."
