A Messy Birthday Party

Don't Fight the Mess, Embrace It!

Get Messy!

The party experts, Franco, Sheilds and Stacey Parkiz, owner of Parties by Stacey, have come up with many get-messy activities you can incorporate into your party theme. Some give the children the illusion they are making a mess while others are tried-and-true make-a-mess material.

Get a Little Messy

  • Outdoor parties held in the summertime scream for water play. Create a mini waterpark for the birthday party using kiddie pools and sprinklers. For children that are a little older, create a small obstacle course that gets the children wet – jumping in hula hoops laid on the ground while being sprayed by a sprinkler and then "fishing" for a duck or other floating toy in a small wading pool.
  • Bubbles are easy to do and provide lots of entertainment. Give each child their own bottle and wand or fill a small wading pool full of water and dish soap and create a bubble solution that everyone can share and that won't get tipped over.
  • Create a masterpiece on your driveway or sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. You can let the children do as they please or help them make their own hopscotch game. Take pictures of the little artists and sen a copy to them afterwards as a thank you for coming to the party.
