Getting Little Ones Prepped for Winter
By Katherine Bontrager
Hands, feet and heads need special tending. "Infants and small children lose a lot of body heat when their heads are exposed," Dr. Krata says. "This is particularly true of children with little to no hair. It's therefore important that they wear a warm hat in cold weather, preferably something that covers their ears and, if possible, their neck. And small hands get cold very fast, so mittens, which keep hands warmer than gloves, are an important item of clothing when children go outside."
