Shopping for Germs
The topic of taking children to the mall tends to stir a rousing debate. "I try to keep my children mall-free not only because of the viruses but because there are often overwhelming messages that are not appropriate for little eyes and ears," says Winter Prosapio, a mom from Canyon Lake, Texas. Opting to shop off hours or limit the number of stores frequented are a few common options, while others see the time spent at the mall as a chance for their children to bond with their father or grandparents.

Praise for Staying Home
"I don't think newborns should be in church because of the germs or potential to be disruptive," says Elizabeth Mlotkiewicz of Wichita, Kan. "It seems that people feel they should go to church even though they or their children are sick without realizing they are exposing everyone else to their illness." Parents trying to find a happy medium between staying away from religious services and not wanting to distract the congregation choose to attend part of a service or sit as far away as plitely possible from fellow worshipers.
