Festive Table Crafts
Bring a Homemade Touch to Your Holiday Feast
By Laura M. Johnson
Bundle up your little one and take a winter nature walk. Take a bag and collect the treasures of winter's harvest: small leaves, nuts, winterberries, holly, sticks and pine needles. You can use these natural goodies to create Winter's Harvest Placecards.
You'll need:
- Sheet of white poster board
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Markers
- Glue
- Small treasures from your nature walk: small leaves, nuts, winterberries, holly, sticks, pine needles, etc.
Here's what you do:
Measure and cut 4-inch by 6-inch rectangles out of the poster board (one rectangle for each placecard). Fold each rectangle in half, creating a small table tent. Using a marker, print each person's name who will be sitting at the table in the center of the placecard, leaving plenty of room at the edges.
Lay the rectangle flat and apply glue around the person's name. Have your little one press her winter nature treasures into the glue. Let the glue dry. Refold each card and set at each person's place around your holiday table.
