Is It Lunchtime Yet?

Daycare Dilemmas of Stay-at-Home Moms

I am going to take the opportunity to add my own story here. My time-off arrangement is a little different from the ones mentioned above. I pay a single mother to come to my home with her own child two mornings a week to entertain my 20-month-old upstairs while I work on articles in the seclusion of a downstairs bedroom. Expressing myself in writing is a stress-reliever that leaves me energized and ready to keep up with a toddler who's energy level has been pre-set two notches above high.

According to Noyes: "Utilizing quality part-time care during a doctor's appointment or to play a round of golf is not a luxury for the elite. It is a win-win situation. The child gets a chance to benefit from a developmentally appropriate environment where learning is first-hand and filled with adventure. The adult gets to enjoy the freedom that only comes from entering a store without dragging 50 pounds of toddler equipment."

Take some time away from your toddler and invest it in yourself. You'll probably discover that absence makes the heart grow fonder.
